Kitties...

I am a huge cat lover, to prove the point my profile picture is that of my baby. I had to leave him in New York, and I miss him more than I miss anything. My husband right now is working 7 days a week and because of this we hardly have time on our weekends to do much, except go to the local malls and pretty much just window shop. The first day I landed we went to Westfield Chermside, a huge mall, and we saw 7 gorgeous Ragdoll kittens, all female and I wanted to take them all home, we then went to Westfield Carindale and there they had these little Lyonese kittens, also wanted to take them all home. Our lease states no pets, but on Friday we saw a little, teeny black and white kitten that was the runt of the litter as we had seen this kitten earlier in the week with its siblings and it was the last one left. :( My husband wanted to take it home immediately. Mother's day morning we saw 3 kittens, and 2 older kittens, the older ones were a Ragdoll and a Lyonese. The little kittens were domestic short hairs but the one I fell in love with was this little grey tabby puff, and he was beautiful, he must be a mix with a long haired cat as he's too fluffy to be a true domestic short-hair. When we got back we emailed the managing agent to ask if we could have a cat, even though it had said no pets, it can't hurt to ask. So hopefully they get back to us and let us have a little ball of fluff.

  1. Hi!While Ilija is working on the weekends, have you gone out and explored a little bit? I remember you saying that not far from where you live is a major street with shopping. Is his working 7 days a temporary thing? Is he filling in for others while they are on vacation? Have you become friendly enough with some of your co-workers to hang out with them? It might take some time. Hopefully, your stuff will finish its cruise and you'll be busy unpacking again!!

  2. Funny while Ilija is working weekends I'm usually cooking dinner. The 7 days is a temporary thing while the music director is in NY and PA, he'll be back in June, after that we're planning on flying down to Melbourne for a 3 day weekend. Stuff is coming end of May, then I guess it just has to clear customs. :) Cannot wait for my clothes and tennis stuff.

    1. That's great that you're going to Melbourne. How long is the flight? I'm glad that you are getting to see other parts of Austalia. Can't wait to see the photos. The city looks beautiful from what I have seen during the Australian Open.

  3. The flight's about 2hours 15mins, so they say on Google :-) I can't wait as it's a more ethnically diverse city (high European diversity), therefore more varieties of things.

  4. Great! That's almost like a flight to Florida! You can stock up on things that you can't find in Brisbane. Also, check out the supermarkets to see how they have their deli meat! Maybe the sliced deli meat sitting there is a Brisbane way of doing things! Barbara

  5. But Barbara, seriously think about it, it's not hygienic to slice meat and leave it sitting out uncovered all day. So I come in there after work and if I want sliced ham I have to take ham that was sliced this morning? Same thing with cheese, there are some delis, hard to find, that actually slice everything to order.
